Cabrerets

An authentic village in the heart of the Causses du Quercy

The village of Cabrerets owes its name to the etymological root cabre, which means goat in the Occitan language. At the confluence of the Sagne and Célé rivers, Cabrerets nestles at the foot of the Rochecourbe cliff, an immense overhanging wall. The high overhanging cliff of Rochecourbe dominates Cabrerets and bears on its vertical the ruins of an "English castle", also called "devil's castle", clinging to a ledge.

Cabrerets is located on the Via Podiensis of the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. Coming from Sauliac-sur-Célé, the next town is Saint-Cirq-Lapopie.
Shortly after leaving the village, the jacquets joined those who had passed through Cajarc and the Lot valley.
